The following is a complete list of Hebrew classes. Classes begin in September.

All books can be purchased through Amazon or through the Israel Book Shop at 1-800-323-7723.
Makeup classes will take place in May, June or July depending on the class.

Modern Hebrew 1 - Sundays, 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM and Fridays, 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM
Think you know all there is to know about Modern Hebrew? Join this continuing class to deepen your knowledge of this dynamic language.

Book: New students must purchase the book "Ivrit MiBereishit Alef" in advance of the first class.

Prayerbook Hebrew

Mondays, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM and Thursdays, 7-8:30pm

Do you secretly feel like you are the only one who doesn’t know what is going on during the service? This class will prepare you for full participation in Shabbat morning services. You will acquire synagogue and Hebrew-reading skills and gain confidence in your knowledge of the service. Very basic knowledge of Hebrew required.

Book: New students must purchase the book "Hineni: Prayerbook Hebrew for Adults" in advance of the first class.

Modern Hebrew 2 - Tuesdays, 10:00AM - 11:30 AM and Thursdays 9:30-11:00am
A continuation of Modern Hebrew I. Join this continuing class to deepen your knowledge of this dynamic language.

Book: New students must purchase the book "Ivrit MiBereishit Alef" in advance of the first class.

Beginning Hebrew - Tuesdays, 7:00PM -8:30PM
Did you always want to learn to read and write Hebrew? This is your chance to study in a safe, warm and friendly atmosphere.

Book: New students must purchase the book “L’Shonee Aleph” and the accompanying workbook, “L’Shonee Aleph” in advance of the first class. The workbook might be out of print. If so, contact Morah Janine and she can get you a copy.

If you are taking Rabbi Herber‘s class for conversion purposes, you must take beginning Hebrew for a year. If you have taken Hebrew for a year already, please speak with Rabbi Herber about possibly waiving this requirement.

Biblical Hebrew - Wednesdays, 9:00-10:45am
This class will be a simple, straightforward guide to Biblical Hebrew. By the end of the Primer, you will have learned most words that occur 200 or more times in the Bible. This should make the transition to reading Biblical texts as easy as possible. You will be amazed at how much of the weekly Torah portion you will be able to understand in the original Hebrew.

Book: Students must purchase "The First Hebrew Primer: The Adult Beginner’s Path to Biblical Hebrew” by Ethelyn Simon, Irene Resnikoff and Linda Motzkin, EKS Publishing before the first class.


Modern Hebrew 3 - Wednesdays, 7-8:30pm - In-Person
A continuation of Modern Hebrew II. Join this continuing class to deepen your knowledge of this dynamic language.

Book: Students must purchase Ivrit MiBereisheet Bet (Part Two).
